Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death and disability in the United States. Marion County Medical Center gets to the heart of the problem, with comprehensive cardiovascular services aimed at preventing, diagnosing, treating and recovering from cardiovascular disease.

What is the Cardiovascular Lab?
The Cardiovascular Lab diagnoses and treats cardiovascular disease.  Staffed by a team of specially trained medical professionals, including cardiologists, radiologists, vascular surgeons, registered nurses and radiological technologists, the lab uses sophisticated technology to locate, examine, diagnose and/or treat cardiac and vascular problems.

What Cardiovascular Services does Marion County Medical Center offer?
Screenings and advanced diagnostic tests provide important insights about heart and blood vessels.  Our Cardiovascular Lab Department includes the following state-of-the-art equipment:

Digital Ultra Sound Systems: Capabilities include echocardiograms for the diagnosis of many different heart conditions.
Vascular Ultrasounds:  Exposes the body to high frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body’s veins and arteries.
Electroencephalograms (EEG’s):  A technique used to record present or ongoing electrical activity generated by the neurons in the brain.
Electrocardiograms (EKG’s):  Provide more than 500 measurements of heart function.
Stress Tests:  A treadmill and monitoring equipment are used to determine a patient’s cardiac fitness.
Radiolyte Testing:  Pinpoints blockages in the blood stream by tracking radioactive isotopes.
Holter Monitoring:  A small portable device, which provides up to 36 hours of continuous recording to confirm rhythm patterns of the heart.
