Aynor Medical Center Sees 500th NEW Patient
Aynor, SC--When Richard Williamson walked through the doors of Aynor Medical Center in early December, he had no idea he was anything except another patient waiting to see the doctor for what appeared to be the flu. As it turned out, he was the 500th new patient to visit Aynor Medical Center in less than the three months since it opened its doors.
Read carefully. We didn’t say that Richard Williamson was the 500th patient. We said he was the 500th NEW patient. “The response to the services provided through Aynor Medical Center has been overwhelming,” said Don Lloyd, President and CEO of Marion Regional Healthcare System, Aynor Medical Center’s parent facility. “It certainly has proved the need for our services in this community.”
While many Aynor residents were already familiar with Marion Regional Healthcare System, located less than a twenty minute drive away, others, faced primarily by transportation issues, have found this new facility a blessing.
“I attribute much of our success to our staff,” said Lloyd. “Dr. Martin Carmichael is a board-certified physician and a native of Mullins. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Francis Marion University and was awarded his medical degree from the University of South Carolina. He is well versed in family medicine and is familiar with the area.”
“I can say the same for our family nurse practitioner, Alice Caldwell. Alice is a native of Timmonsville and is certified in both family practice medicine and pediatrics. These two individuals are a perfect compliment to one another and provide an excellent medical team for the Aynor community.”
While Richard Williamson wasn’t greeted with bells and whistles and helium balloons on that December day, he was greeted with the same friendly service that all of Aynor Medical Center’s patients have come to know and appreciate. “This is the friendliest doctors’ office I have ever seen,” he said. “I get the feeling they really care about you and I like that!”
When asked why he chose Aynor Medical Center, he replied, “My wife sent me.” Williamson’s wife is also one of Aynor Medical Center’s new patients. “It’s a family thing,” Williamson continued. “My entire family has chosen Aynor Medical Center. We like it here.”
Aynor Family Medicine, a division of Marion Regional Healthcare System, specializes in family and internal medicine and offers care in the areas of pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, and select surgical specialties.
Equipped with radiology and lab capabilities, the facility allows real-time access to the technology and medical staff of Marion Regional Healthcare System. The nearly 6,000 square foot facility was designed to accommodate up to two physicians and a nurse practitioner.
Aynor Medical Center is now open and accepting patients. Appointments are not required; walk-ins are welcome. For additional information call 843-358-3700.
