Marion Regional Healthcare System Restricts Patient Access for Safety

Marion, SC- In an effort to protect inpatients and visitors, Marion Regional Healthcare System has announced visitation restrictions throughout the flu season.

Effective immediately, all visitors under the age of 12 will be unable to visit patients in the following departments:

Labor & Delivery
Postpartum
Newborn Nursery
Pediatrics

Those who are experiencing flu like symptoms including, fever, sore throat, vomiting or diarrhea, cough and head or body aches are also asked to avoid all inpatient departments.

“The H1N1 virus is prevalent among children and young adults, therefore this is a precautionary measure to lessen their potential exposure, while protecting our patients,” explained Lindsay Stroud, RN Director of Infection Control and Patient Safety at Marion County Medical Center.   “We realize that these actions my cause some inconvenience to families but it is our first priority is ensure the safest possible environment for patients and reduce potential exposure to the flu.”
