Mullins Nursing Center Receives Statewide Safety Award
Mullins, SC--Mullins Nursing Center, operating under the umbrella of Marion Regional Healthcare System, has been recognized as one of ten South Carolina healthcare organizations that have achieved a Palmetto Hospital Trust (PHT) Safety Award and/or a Most Improved PHT Safety Award. The commendation was made at the PHT General Membership Meeting held recently in Columbia.
Most Improved Safety Awards were presented to PHT members with the largest reductions in loss ratio from 2007-2008, and annual Safety Awards were presented to Palmetto Hospital Trust members with the lowest loss ratios in their respective categories. Mullins Nursing Center was the recipient of both awards in the category of ‘Long-Term Care Facilities’.
According to Harold “Gene” Tucker, President and CEO of Marion Regional Healthcare System, “We’re honored to be recognized by PHT. Patient safety and quality of care are at the forefront of our entire operation.”
Earlier this year, Mullins Nursing Center, was recognized for its achievement of an overall five-star rating from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, (CMS), making it one of a select few nursing homes in the State to have received this designation—and one of only a few in the nation to maintain it.
As a result, US News and World Report has ranked Mullins Nursing Center as one of America’s Best Nursing Homes in its ranking of nursing homes nationwide.
Marion Regional Healthcare System is a private, nonprofit organization that in addition to Mullins Nursing Center operates Marion County Medical Center, and the new Aynor Medical Center. In addition, it operates a number of physician practices throughout the area.
