Marion County Medical Center Announces Babysitting Class

Marion, SC –Marion County Medical Center’s Education Department will conduct a babysitting class on June 22, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  The free class will be held in classroom A and will teach babysitters 12 years of age and older how to properly care for children.

“On a daily basis, millions of parents leave their children in the care of a babysitter.  This role is filled by thousands of teens each year, especially during the summer months while school is out,” says Ann Flynn, R.N. of the Education Department at Marion County Medical Center.  “Babysitting has become a huge business and an even bigger responsibility.”

To assist in preparing babysitters for their upcoming jobs and multiple responsibilities, the healthcare professionals of Marion County Medical Center will be conducting demonstrations and providing information on the following topics:
•    Safety tips
•    Basic first-aid
•    Sanitation / Diaper changing techniques
•    Special activities & books
•    Easy-to-fix snacks

Knowing basic care techniques isn’t enough: A great babysitter also knows how to deal with emergency situations as they arise and how to continuously entertain children.  Parents need assurance they are leaving their children with a responsible and well-trained individual.  Educate yourself by attending Marion County Medical Center’s babysitting class, and position yourself as a valuable, trustworthy babysitter.  Contact the Education Department to register by calling 843-431-2086.
