Three Named to Board of Directors

Marion County Medical Center has named Mrs. Janie M. Johnson,
Reverend Charles R. Johnson, and Ganga Mathi, M.D. to their Board of Directors.

Mrs. Janie M. Johnson, is President and CEO of Insurance and Investment Services, a position she has held for 17 years. She is a licensed Broker of Property and Casualty as well as Life and Health Insurance. In addition, she is a Series 7 and 63 NASD Licensed and Registered Representative. Mrs. Johnson is a retired educator having served as a teacher of history and government for nearly 20 years.

Active in church, civic, and community affairs, Mrs. Johnson is a member of St. John AME Church where she is Superintendent of Sunday School, Chairperson of the Commission on Stewardship and Finance, Class Leader, a member of the Missionary Society and a member of the Board of Stewards. She plays an active role as a member of Palmetto Leadership, NAACP, Marion Kiwanis Club, Leadership Montgomery and the National Business League. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and District 7 Advisory Board. Mrs. Johnson is married and is the mother of two children and the grandmother of one.

Charles R. Johnson is the Pastor of First Friendship Baptist Church in Nichols, South Carolina, a position he has held for more than 25 years. He is an active member of the Pee Dee community and is involved in area church and civic activities including M/CAAP (the Marion County Missing and Exploited Children Comprehensive Action Program), The Children’s Health and Safety Council, MC CAN (Marion County Collaborative Action Network CDC), and the United Fund of Marion County, Inc.

Reverend Johnson serves on the Executive Board of the Pee Dee Baptist Association of Churches and is in his 10th year of service to the Mullins Area Ministerial Alliance. He is a former Spiritual Counselor for Family Place, an affiliate of Mullins School
District 2.

He and his wife, Dorothy, are the parents of four children and the grandparents of five.

Dr. Gangi Mathi, Board Certified in Internal Medicine, is a physician with Marion County Medical Center. Dr. Mathi completed his residency at Polyclinic Medical Center, an affiliate of Hershey Medical University, and practiced as an attending physician at Geisinger Medical Center prior to joining the former Mullins Hospital and Advanced Medical Associates in 1996.

Dr. Mathi has served as President of the Medical Staff, Chief of Medicine, and Chairman of the Credentials Committee of Marion Regional Healthcare System. He is currently the Director of Hospice Services, and a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the South Carolina Medical Association.

He and his wife, Sumathi, are the parents of two children.
