Marion, SC – Drew Alvarez, PT, MSPT, has joined The Wellness Center at Marion County Medical Center as a Physical Therapist.

Before settling in South Carolina, Alvarez worked as a Physical Therapist and Team Leader for the Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team, where he evaluated and treated orthopedic injuries and helped to establish a new clinic in Lexington, KY.

Alvarez, who holds a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky, recently completed the KTA Level 2 course for Kinesio Taping.  The Kinesio Taping Method is the new standard for therapeutic rehabilitative taping allowing the individual to receive the therapeutic benefits 24 hours per day.  Because each application can be worn for several days, the Kinesio Taping Method improves patient recovery time.  Currently, Kinesio Taping is used in hospitals, clinics, Universities, High Schools and by professional sport teams.

Alvarez also completed a postgraduate course for certification of the ASTYM System.  The ASTYM System is a powerful treatment, providing breakthrough in the way soft tissue injuries are treated.  “Marion County Medical Center is one of only three facilities in South Carolina to bring our patients the ASTYM System for rehabilitation,” stated Gene Tucker, CEO of Marion County Medical Center.  “We are thrilled to have Drew on board.  His clinical skills and certification of the Kinesio Taping Method and the ASTYM System will be a great addition in helping to reach patient goals quicker.”
