| Marion, SC--Effective February 21, 2007, the Wellness Center at Marion County Medical Center will expand its hours to better serve the needs of the community. The Center will be open Monday – Friday, 5 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday, 6 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. This announcement is being made by Harry Martin, P.T., the Hospital’s Director of Rehabilitation. According to Martin, “the change is being made in response to requests from our members and the community at large. There has been an overwhelming request for early hours, late hours and expanded hours during weekends. Our goal is to make exercise available to everyone in the entire Pee Dee. What better time to introduce the change than February—long recognized as the heart-healthy month.” The Wellness Center at Marion County Medical Center is one of the few facilities in the State with TechnoGym equipment—a name synonymous with fitness worldwide. This brand and level of fitness equipment and training is the choice of the Ferrari racing team, and has played a part in many of the world’s most notable sporting events including the Sydney Olympics in 2000, the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002 and the World Skiing Championships. “Since its introduction at the Wellness Center at Marion County Medical Center in 2004, memberships have more than doubled and exercise has become accessible to patrons with special needs, including those with handicaps and disabilities,” explained Martin. “The equipment is superior and the staff is knowledgeable and experienced,” said one Marion County resident and Wellness Center member. |
