Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a procedure utilizing high frequency sound waves to view the organs. This procedure is painless and takes only a few minutes. Ultrasounds are performed by placing an ultrasonic gel on the patient and using a transducer to obtain images. Invasive procedures may also be performed under ultrasound guidance such as biopsies and fluid drainage.Your physician or nurse will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for your exam.
